Hospital and health system jobs increase by over 1,000 in October
Employment at hospitals and health systems increased by more than 1,000 jobs in October, as U.S. jobs overall increased by 531,000, according to preliminary data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Health care jobs overall increased by more than 37,000 to just over 16 million (seasonally adjusted). Most health care service providers saw increases, including nursing care facilities which added nearly 12,000 jobs. BLS also revised preliminary estimates from September and August upward. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals and health systems have added just over 41,000 jobs, but remain below their February 2020 peak.
